Mentoring Program
Unity Dance & Movement launches it’s newest program: Workforce Development Mentoring Program - an opportunity for students ages 12 - College to join Team Unity! This new program is designed to prepare Youth and College level students for excellence in the workplace by serving as a way for students to gain work experience, leadership skills, professional development, and a way to give back to the community here at Unity.
This program aligns beautifully with our mission, “Celebrating the unique gifts of the individual and how they contribute to our growing community”.

Teacher Development/Classroom Assistant
Production/Event Management
Costuming/Merchandising
Facility Cleaning/Maintenance
After School Programming

School Year Schedule:
Application Opens: July 7
Application Closes: July 30
Interview Period: July 31 - August 6
Onboarding: August 7 - 11
Training and Preparation: August 12 - 25
Program Break: August 26 - September 4
Program runs September 2023 - June 2024
Eligibility to apply:
Junior Level - Ages 12 - 14 - Volunteer position
Participants at this level receive first pick for Senior Level positions. Positions available: Classroom Assistant, Facility Cleaning, Basic Office Assistance.
Senior Level - Ages 15 - 18 - Stipend
Positions available: Student Teaching, Front Desk, Event/Production, Facility, Afterschool programming. (Work permit required)
College Level - Ages 18+ - Hourly Rate Competitive with Experience
Positions available: Junior Teachers, Front Desk/Administrative, Production, Facility, Costumes, Afterschool programming, Website Maintenance, Social Media
Workforce Development:
Ongoing Mentoring Meetings
Resume Building
Technical Training
Professional Communication (personal and digital communication: how to write a professional email, request/communicate time off, write a cover letter, how to create an invoice, build time management skills, managing sensitive documentation, interview skills)
Weekly Commitment Level for the 36 weeks school year program:
Junior Level - 1 hour mentoring meeting, 4 hours of volunteering in program position, participation in National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), participation in dance classes
Senior Level - 1 hour mentoring meeting, 6 hours of work in program position, participation in NHSDA, participation in dance classes
College Level - 1 hour mentoring meeting, 10 hours of work program position, participation in NHSDA, participation in dance classes
Please Note: All program participants must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for and to remain in the program. Some positions require CPR/First Aid Certification and Background Check.
