Show 1 Check in at 11:30pm.

1st Bow Rehearsal at 12:00pm.

Show 1 - House opens at 12:30pm. Performance begins at 1:00pm. Performance ends around 2:30 pm. Dismissal for show 1 students will take place immediately following Show 1.

Show 2 Check In at 3:00pm.

2nd Bow Rehearsal at 3:30pm.

Show 2 - House opens at 4:00pm. Performance begins at 4:30pm. Performance ends no later than 6:00pm. Dismissal will take place immediately following Show 2.

To help everyone’s day go smoothly, please do your best to arrive on time, or even 5 to 10 minutes early! That way, we’ll be able to start and finish in a timely manner.

As the Bender JCC is a Jewish organization, it requests that all food brought onto the premises be vegetarian and contain no shellfish, in order to comply with kosher regulations.

There is no food or drink allowed backstage for performers during the performance with the exception of water bottles.

We will ensure that dancers have ample time to eat during downtime between performances.

At Dress Rehearsal

On the day of your dancer’s dress rehearsal(s) at Bender JCC, you will want to note the following times:

1. Arrival Time (Call Time)

2. Onstage Time (Rehearsal Time)

Arrival Time refers to the time the dancer should arrive to the Bender for Check in and getting ready backstage for the rehearsal time onstage. Onstage Time refers to the time the dancer will be actively onstage practicing their dance with the choreographer, lighting designer, sound technician, and backstage crew.

When you arrive at the Bender JCC for your call time, please meet the parent volunteers at the check in booth in front of the Kreeger Auditorium. After the parent volunteer has checked your child’s name off the list, your child can proceed backstage to wait for their piece to rehearse. Parent volunteers will be present backstage to assist dancers in changing, lining up for their dance, and keeping them safe.

If parents would like to wait for their child’s piece to finish rehearsing, they are welcome to wait in the lobby or quietly in the house, where they can watch the rehearsal.

On Show Day

Dancers will need to check in at 11:30pm for Bow 1 Rehearsal or 3:00pm for Bow 2 Rehearsal.

When you arrive at the Bender JCC for the performance call time, please give yourself time to park and enter the facility. Next, please meet the parent volunteers at the check in booth in front of the Kreeger Auditorium. They will check your child’s name off the list and hand you a dismissal card (children under age 10). This card will be needed to pick up your child at the Backstage Dismissal at the end of the concert. Please hold onto this card - we will not be able to dismiss your child to you without it.

After you’ve picked up the card, your child can proceed backstage, where they will remain until the end of the show. Parent volunteers will be present backstage to supervise.

Students who are only in show 1 will need to be picked up at dismissal and cannot stay backstage during show 2.

ONLY STUDENTS IN BOTH SHOWS WILL STAY BACKSTAGE UNTIL 6PM DISMISSAL.

At Dress Rehearsal

After your child’s last piece has finished rehearsing, they are free to leave. Please check out at the front desk on your way out so the parent volunteers can confirm that you have left the building.

Please note, if your dancer has multiple classes that are rehearsing that day, the dancers will remain backstage during the entire rehearsal process.

Dancers with multiple rehearsals in a dress rehearsal period will be allowed to bring food backstage. Please note, the Bender JCC is a vegetarian facility - no meat or shellfish allowed.

On Show Day

Performers must remain backstage during the entire performance and will do a final curtain call bow together at the end of each show.

After the final bow/curtain call in each show, the dancers will be sent backstage for dismissal. The Emcee will do the final announcements and then will begin the dismissal process.

Dancers are dismissed in show order and can be collected at the backstage hallway entrance by handing the volunteers your dancer’s dismissal card. Please wait for your dancer’s class to be called and remain seated until that time.

No dancers will be allowed to leave before the end of the performance. No exceptions. Please do not ask.

You are free to leave the Bender once dismissal is complete. We will have an information and merchandise desk open to answer any questions.

Before the Show: Parents/Guardians and other audience members can go to the Ticket Counter to collect their tickets and to scan the QR code for the program. The ticket counter opens 1 hour before the performance and the theater will open to the audience 30 minutes before the start of the performance.

During the Show: We ask that all audience members remain seated during the performance and all dancers remain backstage during the performance. This ensures a smooth run of the show for all involved.

THERE IS NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOGRAPHY PERMITTED DURING THE SHOW. This is to protect the privacy of our dancers and eliminate distractions during the show. Recordings and photographs will be available!

Please Note: There is no food or drink allowed in the theater during the performance with the exception of water bottles.

Due to space and time constraints, parents cannot be backstage. Each class under the middle school level will have an assigned “class monitor” (a parent volunteer) to help facilitate any issues that may arise. Middle and high school classes will have “floater” parent volunteers available to assist.
